This will send ur amp into protect mode or do damage to it and the speaker U never want to connect a spk lower than what the amp says. If it can do a range, yes u should be ok.īut it is always better to match impedance.as lower impedance the more power it sucks to the spk. Just check the back of ur amp and see what it says. I have a panasonic now in the lounge, sa-bx500, not a real flash amp but still 130 watts x7 channels, similar digital drive where you can crank it up full blast and it wont distort the sound at all and is switchable between 4 and 8 ohm ,īut there are probly better amps out there now with more fancy functions but i find i dont use or change anything after it has been set upĪs said above disconnect ur spk and check to see if it still has a uld be a short in cable.most amps now will operate on a range, ie 4 to 6 ohm. I still have my old strda5000es which i think is still an awsome amp, 175 watts x7 channels, its the most powerfull amp i have ever owned, you can turn it up full blast and the sound is still crystal clear even though the whole house is shaking, then add 2 x 400 watt subs and its movie heaven, its just used as a power amp now hooked up though a computer to do all the sound processing, if it had hdmi connections i would still be using it in the lounge I would be dissconnecting the speakers first if you havnt done so already and re-check, it may just be a shorted speaker or wire somewhere, also check the rear or the manual as some can be switched between 4 and 8 ohms ,
